Our Story

IMG_0800.CR3

Dear Community,

I have worked to serve and build community for over 25 years. During this time, I have worked for mainstream organizations that did not serve The Black Community. Nor did they connect The Black Community with appropriate services. My passion for community is overflowing, and the goal has always been to heal what has been historically and currently harming Black folks. Through education, awareness, and empowerment, we needed to get the message out, and hear from the community. This is what inspired me to apply for my 501(c)3, to be the change in which I want to see and give my community what they need. In 2017, The Silent Task Force became an IRS-identified 501(c)3, and we provided an array of services from our personal vehicles. Because our relationship with the community began to expand, we started seeking a brick and mortar to host all the services we were providing at the time, and the services we  envisioned to implement. We were blessed to find a space in the heart of Skyway, the last standing ancestrally black neighborhood in Seattle.

This website is only a small glimpse of The Silent Task Force, a multigenerational Black Women owned and ran organization. We have accomplished tremendous work over the last 7 years, but we have so much more in store for our community.

Our Mission

At the core of The Silent Task Force lies a passionate and dedicated multi-generational team, unified by the shared ambition of sculpting a better tomorrow. Together, we tackle pressing issues head-on, dissecting complexities and forging solutions that ripple into the depths of our communities to engage, educate, and provide resources/services to our community. Our goal is to heal the impact and effects of the systemic violence that occurs historically and currently in the lives of our black families and communities. We believe in the power of equity, the beauty of inclusion, and the strength of diversity.

Our Commitment

We are mentors and role models.

We are messengers that live the message.

We educate and improve ourselves.

We inspire and educate the people we serve.

We respect one another and engage one another as professionals at all times.

We do not discriminate internally or externally based on age, race, gender, position, or sexual preferences.

We are people of integrity in word and deed.

We operate in our assigned positions - we stay in our lane.

We understand there is no "I" in TEAM.

We are stronger together and we agree no one person operates alone.

We bring our "best self" to the work and hold each other accountable in an appropriate manner to do the same.

We believe in the mission and vision of The Silent Task Force.

During work hours we are careful to use the work day to forward the mission and vision of The Silent Task Force and not that of our own.

We encourage brilliance.

We foster excellence and are exact in what we do to serve our community.

During the day I work from the frame of the "community voice" and not that of my own.

I will remain teachable, patient, open, and I will accept feedback from my colleagues, and from those who govern The Silent Task Force.
